What To Expect From The Treatment Process

After your in depth personalised consultation, you'll have the opportunity to book in with Dr Emily to your facial aesthetics treatments carried out at our dental clinic based in Shirley, Croydon in southeast London.

Our aim is to create a calm, relaxing atmosphere in a clinical professional setting to put you perfectly at ease when you’re feeling your most vulnerable. Our clients are given plenty of time to answer questions and to go through consent forms which they would have received after their consultation. At every appointment, we will always take the time to confirm any changes in your medical history, medications, allergies and also confirm our treatment plan and costs to ensure no surprises.

On The Treatment Day

Before any treatment is carried out, we take pre-operative photos. Taking these on the day helps us be sure there have been no changes between the consultation and treatment appointments.

Depending on what treatment we are performing, we may numb the area with either a numbing cream (topical anaesthetic) or with injections in the gums. This depends on the preference of the patient, pain tolerance levels, area and type of injection etc. No two people are the same and we will always tailor this to each individual patient’s needs.

Once numbed, we take time to clean and disinfect the skin thoroughly prior to injecting. This is an essential part of our care. The cleaner the skin is, the lower the risk of post procedural adverse events. We then assess the face again and mark the injection points. Depending on your face these may be symmetrical or asymmetrical - please don’t be offended if we discuss any facial asymmetries, that’s 99% of us!

Afterwards, we ensure the face is cleaned well and presentable and we’ll discuss post treatment care instructions. We will go over what to expect in the first hours and days after treatment and how to best look after yourself.

After Treatment

If further appointments are required as part of a course of treatment, we'll book those in (e.g. polynucleotides or Profhilo), or we may book to see you for a review appointment a couple of weeks later. At the review appointment, we check in to see how the treatment affected you in the days following. We check to see how your skin and body has reacted to treatment and ensure we are happy with the final results. This review is always included in your care package and is vital for us to ensure the treatment has succeeded.
